Our city has a stained-glass heritage that characterises it as one of the best in the Peninsula. The great technical and artistic quality of the pieces, made by great masters of this art, attests to this. During the Middle Ages, this art came from France in its moment of great splendour.
The exhibition space in the Tourist Office (C/ Nuño Rasura 7), highlights the importance of the stain glass windows of Burgos and has been designed by Pilar Alonso Abad, a lecturer from the University of Burgos. This exhibit has different panels that explain the history of the stained-glass tradition.
The master of stained-glass, Enrique Barrio Solorzano, has recreated two of these stained-glass windows of Spanish heritage: One dedicated to the Virgin Mary with the Child from the Monastery of Las Huelgas (13th century) and the stained-glass window from the Cartuja de Miraflores (15th century).
