The diocese of Burgos built the Altarpiece Museum with the aim of preserving and restoring the heritage from the abandoned churches or those in the process of ruin. The space chosen for this museum was the Church of San Esteban, one of the oldest parishes of Burgos. Its existence dates back to 1163. The polychrome façade of this church stands out and its Elizabethan style choir, the work of Simón de Colonia.
