San Gil is home to an unimaginable patrimonial heritage. During the 15th and 16th centuries, the most important European artists of the time came to Burgos, enticed by its economic strength, and left their imprints in the church of San Gil. In its interior there are 3 outstanding chapels: the chapel of La Natividad, the chapel of La Cruz with a statue of the crucified Christ (Cristo de las Santas Gotas) from the old Convent of the Holy Trinity, and the chapel of Nuestra Señora de la Buena Mañana. San Gil has been a passageway for the pilgrims of el Camino de Santiago.
Did you know that…. Although this Gothic church dates from the end of the 14th century, the original building underwent several extensions during the 15th and 16th centuries.
